Educator Benefits Solutions®, an employee-paid disability product created to meet the unique needs of the education market, is now available for purchase through Assurant Employee Benefits sales representatives.
Specifically designed for educators, Educator Benefits Solutions® incorporates several features not typically available with more traditional employee-paid disability plans. They include:
- Employee choice of four elimination periods, which can be integrated with school sick leave/pay.
- Higher minimum benefit amounts to help maintain the value of the product against offsets.
- A sabbatical provision that allows plan participants to continue coverage for up to one year while on leave of absence for travel or study.
- Coverage while not at work. Because the policy has been drafted specifically for school districts, it includes definitions that clearly address and confirm eligibility for benefits during the summer.
- Benefit eligibility for insureds working 20 or more hours per week, which accommodates the schedules of most school employees.
