Assurant Employee Benefits Announces Staff Additions and Promotions

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (May 26, 2008) – Assurant Employee Benefits, a leading provider of non-medical group employee benefits based in Kansas City, Mo., announces the following staffing changes.

Deena Harrington has been promoted to Officer, Regional Team Leader of Risk Operations, effective May 1. Harrington joined Assurant Employee Benefits in 1996 as a Renewal Underwriter, later becoming a New Business Underwriter, followed in 2000 with an appointment as Risk Team Supervising Team Leader. She holds a bachelor of business administration degree from Washburn University.

Joi Tillman has been promoted to Vice President, Voluntary Business effective May 8. Tillman joined Assurant Employee Benefits in 1989 as a human resources consultant. Since that time she has excelled in many positions within the company, and has been a leader and key participant in several critical initiatives. She continues to report directly to Assurant Employee Benefits' interim president, John Roberts.

Brian Shade has joined Assurant Employee Benefits as Manager, Marketing Analytics. He will be responsible for enhancing the company's analytic skills to grow top line sales and increase marketing program effectiveness. Prior to joining the company, Shade was the director of Marketing Analytics with NovaStar Mortgage. He holds a degree in Economics and Mathematical Methods from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.
